Hi, all I have been looking around for a good Volvo forum, hope I have found it as I think I may require a lot of help with this old car, I have worked on midgets etc in the past, but just looking at this engine scares me, my first job was change the spark plugs, what a nightmare that is, and trying to find other 265 owners is not easy, I think that tells me something like what have I done ?

Welcome to the forum!
Sounds like it's the V6 PRV (Peugeot Renault Volvo) engine? If so it's supposed to be an nightmare (and the engine they used in the de lorean), especially the earlier version. But as long as it maintained correctly....

I had a Renault 30TX with same engine .. it was a peach of an unit ( infact i had 2 of them and both were fab ) .. keep it maintained and it will just go on and on .. i think it was the De Lorean that gave it a bad reputaion as they broke down alot

Hi, not sure what to do with it , i think its a lovely car now getting quite rare so i would love to take it to classic shows, BUT i have to weigh up how much it will cost me to get it through an MOT, and what the value of the car would be if i just sold it, would it be scrap value ? or are they collectable

What is it needing for an MOT

looks to be in great condition, so can't be much needed for an MOT

Not sure it may be ok, it all seems to look good, but it has been sitting for a few years, it had a service and mot done just before he stopped driving it, and I have all the paperwork of everything he had done to it, so I may get it transported to the mot station and find out, but is it worth spending money on it, I can not find any for sale or has sold.
It has got a great dateless number plate on that I would love to keep, but again I would need the MOT.

It's gonna be worth a fair bit, more with a ticket on it.

Finding it impossible to get hold of a passenger side headlamp, I do not think it will pass its MOT with the one its got, does anyone know where there may be spares, or do you think I could spray it with a heatproof silver, would that work

If you do have to spray it (not that this should be done due to altering the beam pattern, etc......)
I used some chrome spray on my brothers headlight just to get it through MOT quickly as he needed it for work (got another headlight later) and it passed ok. Did make a bit of a mess of the beam but not dastically and light output was worlds better than before.
I researched loads of stuff and one came back as the best for the price. It did really do a good job but you have to apply it in thin layers otherwise it will not dry flat and distort the beam even more.
Trouble is the cans are in my parents shed so I'll have to pop down and see what it is called.
Ah, just remembered what it was. It's called Streetwise Chrome Effect Spray. I got it from Towsure (as it's down the road from me luckily)

I got a couple of cans and it was a good job I did as the one can stopped spraying after a few minutes for some reason.

Hi, thanks for that I will give it a go, with it not being heat proof even if it lasts while the mot is being done that will be good, I was going to get it re chromed, but I do not want to spend to much in case it fails on a lot of things, thanks.
