Hi folks, I purchased a 59 plate V70 R-Design D5 205bhp auto last October as an upgrade for my 54 plate V70 D5 manual. Since purchase I have changed the rear calipers, timing belt, pulleys, water pump, fan belt and the fuel flter. Recently I have an intermittent management light come on and off. The last week it occasionally seems to go into limp mode for a few hundred yards and then run perfectly again. Has anyone else experienced this and if so can they please advise. I did wonder if it had anything to do with the torque converter. Thanks

Hi Higgy, :welcome: You should pop over to the 'introduce yourself' section ;) ....The shape V70 you've bought, I actually do like, very much. Does yours have the dual exhaust?? :worthless Anyway, I doubt very much that your torque converter will be clever enough to put the EML on, infact it won't! Your problem more likely lies with the engine, in particular, the EGR valve or the DPF (if fitted). You definately need to have good diagnostics plugged in to your car to extract any fault codes, as rectifying an intermittent fault, especially those that affect performance or making the car go into 'restricted performance' mode, can be expensive. Assuming you don't use the car on short journeys as this will affect the above (long term) and god only knows how the previous owner drove the car? Your post couldn't be anymore vague but get some fault codes posted and I'll be happy to help in any way I can! :B_thumb: PS. There's some cracking modifications for your model car too!

Thanks for the response. I've not used this forum much but I will go to the introduce myself area shortly.Yes it does have the twin exhaust and is Black in colour. I will add some photos shortly. I'll be taking it to my friends garage who have just done the timing belt etc. We did think it was the fuel filter as a similar issue developed with my other d5. I hope its not the dpf as thats expensive. Also did the egr valve on the old car. Do you know if its the same type on the mk3? Bit early for the mods yet. Just want to get it running ok
