Hi guys, I would love to take part in the upcoming Volvo parade however, my car is burning too much oil. It passed the stage to add anything in the oil etc. A local mechanic who is now retired said it was the stem seals. My car is off the road it has no MOT or road tax. I run the engine regularly to keep it in good state. If I buy the parts is there anyone who would fix it for me at a reasonable price. My car runs perfectly except it is old. Please contact me with your location and estimate price. I live in Leeds but will be happy to drive to a reasonable distance. Please help me rescue my car. Thanks in advance. Have you tried an additive to refresh the seals in the short term, something like this : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Petrol-Diesel-Oil-Engine-Stop-Leak-Sealer-Valve-Stem-Seal-More-Compression-Mph-/360530075965 That should get you through the MOT, unless of course you have a leaky turbo/blown CAT or another issue that would cause you to fail.the emissions test. Good luck , Morgan

Hi Morgan, thanks for the reply. It certainly made my new year very happy indeed. I tried Wyns additive that did not work. I have ordered this straight away tonight as I saw your posting. I shall keep you updated on the result. Many thanks. I am really greatful. Turgay

Do keep us posted. Hope you can keep the car going. I assume it's had regular oil changes and PCV is in good condition?

Hi KMB, it had regular oil changes and PCV is a totally new phrase to me. I had to look it up. I cant wait till tomorrow morning to check ( with my limited knowledge). I am watching Robert DIY on you tube which has given me some idea. I shall make sure the tubes etc will be changed if I have the engine rebuilt. Thanks for the contribution.

Good Morning All, I am defecting! After owning many different types of Volvos 340, 244, 850 I bought a BMW. I am breaking my beloved Volvo. Is there anyone who is interested to buy it (400 ono)? The engine burns oil and it leaks oil either gasket or the stem seals or both. I bought it for £5500 and spent £500 on average for 15 years full service history available. The car starts and runs no warning lights everything works. If you want any parts please name the part and price I will consider it. Thanks for reading it.

Hi Morgan, just went through my old posts about my Volvo its still alive and kicking but needs stem seals. The oil you suggested did not work any other tips. Thanks for your time. Turgay
