Hi, been a member on here since 2005 when I had an 850R estate, 2003 V70R manual and D5 R design V70 but sold the V70 in early 2016. Got bored with the new cars, F80 M3 and Mk7 GTI so added a Gul saloon manual to keep me busy. Had it about 6 weeks and bloody love it! Such a fun old car and enjoying working on it and taking it to a few shows. Image Cheers Simon

Welcome back! Glad you are enjoying the Volvo again. What made you want one again though?
Welcome back! Glad you are enjoying the Volvo again. What made you want one again though?
Thanks. I still like my old cars and had been on the lookout for the past year for something to take to a few shows it was either a classic/retro or buy another car purely for trackdays. I did have a dedicated caged track car but sold it in 2013 due to lack of use. I actually went to look at and test drove a Megane R26 the day before buying the Volvo but deep down knew I’d never have any love for a Renault, great for a track car but that’s it. I spotted the Volvo on EBay and had to drive from Kent to Birmingham the next day so thought I’d take a detour into London to view it before the auction ended. It looked like a solid car so did a deal there and then as these are so rare they get snapped up quick at the right price and it’s not like another would have popped up anytime soon. I was also looking at 2.8i Capri’s as well but glad I went with the Volvo as it was the cheaper option and actually drives quite well for a 24year old car. If I had more budget I would have bought a Sierra Cosworth as I’ve had 4 of these in the past and love them but they are just silly money for an old motor and I wasn’t prepared to sell my F80 M3 for one. Also another factor in wanting an old car was luckily I managed to retire in January at the age of 48 so wanted something to tinker with. No regrets so far.

So far I’ve just taken it to a couple of local classic car shows plus we have a monthly meet at Ashford in Kent “Hazzard Retro car club” which is quite good. Will probably do some specific Volvo shows next year. Although it’s pretty good condition theirs plenty of jobs to do.
