Hi everyone, I am, as the title says, the proud owner of a white (once upon a time, now cream) 1992 940 estate in fantastic condition. Got the car in August last year. Makes me smile when I'm at traffic lights and put the radio on and see the people in the car behind me smiling and pointing at the aerial going up. My grandchildren christened the car the Delorean because the aerial button looks like the flux capacitor button on the Back to the Future car, I'm happy to go with that. :)And they think the winding rear windows are a hoot - happy times. We are currently replacing the fuel pumps and on the hunt for a filter for the in tank pump - new one came without a filter. Such a small thing, I'm wondering if I could make one - anyone made their own filter?

Welcome to the forum! Bomb proof those 940s are. I had a 940 with the electric aerial too haha, loved it! Is this the right filter? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-1274818-Fuel-filter-in-the-tank-740-760-B200-230E-940-B200-230-280F-/122038740105

Indeed it is. Thanks so much. Postage was more than the filter so I paid quickly and am now just looking forward to getting it. Do you happen to know where the petrol pump relays are under the bonnet? Our manual says we should have some but darned if we can find them.

Just found one behind the ashtray. This old lady (the car) was running beautifully after not being used for at least 6 years. Then she stopped. No fuel coming through so changed both fuel pumps and discovered leaves and a stone in the fuel tank - not ideal. At first we had leaf confetti coming through the air vents into the car, another cause for much hilarity. The underside has been sealed with gunge which is great for keeping rust at bay but a nightmare trying to identify what colour wires are. We are plodding on, determined to get her cruising again.

My apologies, I didn't see it wasn't a UK seller, I wouldn't have linked it. The fuel pump relay on the 940 is indeed behind the ash tray. Don't bother paying out for a new one, just take the case off the relay and reflow the solder on the pcb inside. It is a common problem on the 940 that the relay pcb gets dry joints on the solder. My 940 started cutting out randomly and not starting. Did the resoldering and had no problems afterwards Good thing about the 940 fuse box is if you remove the little box above the ash tray (couple of screws) the whole fuse tray unclips and comes forward so you can access all the relays!
