Hi everyone. I'm 2 months into ownership of a 2006 V70R in Sonic Blue with Nordkapp Interior. It was imported from Japan two years ago, and is now at about 74k miles. She looks great on the surface, but there's been a few gremlins to sort out, and more still on the list. My ambition is to clean her, and keep her close to standard, with a couple of very small tweaks here and there. Engine seems sound, had the belts done lasy year, and all four 4C struts replaced with Monroe. It's been a busy couple of months, and a steep learning curve. The story so far:

Stripped out the Japanese 'pop-up' monitor from the dash, a satnav unit from the boot, and all surpluss wiring.
Had the DIM translated from Japanese to English by VolvoDiagnostic.
Managed to get DICE/VIDA working with a donated Win7 laptop.
Removed the duff original headunit in favour of a Sony Double-din Carplay unit, with USB connection wired into the arm rest. I also needed to reconnect, and remount the amp with new
Stripped the interior, and did a full wet vac of the carpets and boot.
Leather refurb using Colourlock. I'm actually half way through having to do this for a second time because they messed up the colour match first time round. Great products though.
Resprayed headlamp and windscreen wipers, replacing the blades at the same time.
Strip down the rear washer wiper motor, replaced the wiper arm, and sorted a problem with the washer tube.
I had 5 broken or frayed wires in the harness as it passes through the tailgate hinge, which I've sorted. I'm amazed anything was working to be honest.
Replaced both front foglights with new units. The originals had a horrible HID 'upgrade' which was a mess, and the lenses were pretty tired.
Replaced the breather pipe from the PCV to the crankcase which was so brittle it came away in my hands.
New Brembo pads, discs and retainers at the front
Top and bottom engine torque mounts replaced, which have made a massive difference to the quality of the shifting.
New number plates, clear indicator bulbs, and I've got the newer centre caps for wheels arriving tomorrow.
There's a fair list of things to do, but the next major job is to replace the front springs, spring seats and top mounts. I'll then move onto an issue with it holding a fast idle, which I hope is only a boost leak somewhere (I'll be asking for help on that at some stage I'm sure). Wheel refurb, and a front bumper respray. Other than that, she certainly brings a smile to the face.

Lovely colour and very nice car - Welcome to the site. Looks really great. Is it your first Volvo and how does it compare to previous cars?

Second Volvo, but this replaced a D2 V40, so it’s a bit of a change. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Welcome. Nice spec car. Whilst upgrading the bulbs don’t forget to do the rear indicators, as well as sourcing some LED reverse bulbs so you can actually see out the back in the dark. Also consider some D2C 6000K bulbs for the xenons if you want a crisp white light.
