Very sad to hear the news of a dear friend Mike Broughton 'Pookie' passing. May you rest easy Sir.
I'd known Mike since the early VPCUK days and first actually met him in person back in 2008 when we parked our Red 850's together at a VPCUK meet at Tatton Park. Mike became an instant close friend, he watched our kids grow up, became friends with my Dad who shared Mike's old school mechanical engineering background and we loved the Volvo meets and all the shenanigans that went with them.
Mike and I shared the grief when another close friend passed away a few years ago, we visited together and knew exactly what each other was going through....it was a bond that a few would only experience.
One of my fondest memories we shared is when we took a road trip together to Scotland, Pookie & Momo wanted to take in the Forth & Tay Road Bridges followed by the unforgettable drive through the Cairngorms. A weekend never forgotten. His red 850R 'Puff' is iconic and Mike will live on and his stories told whenever Sweden's finest is seen. I've taken hundreds of photos of 'Puff' over the years and the love is shown for Pookie today on Facebook with all the photographs showing the infamous pair together over the years.
Mike leaves behind a loving family & close friends, he was considered a legend in the Volvo Community and will be sorely missed. Rest Easy Mike ❤
