Who would spent all that money on a car and then drive it 530 miles in 13 years??? Someone wouldn't have bought it as an investment would they? What did they cost originally? Regards Andy

Post 71542 by mraldonnelly on 2006-01-11 23:42:05

What's 75 ft lb in nm? I'm crap at conversions but torque must be more than 75 ft lb?

i just copied it... I didn't read it.....

Post 71549 by mraldonnelly on 2006-01-11 23:48:44

LOL, the XJ220 is poo then! Sure, shed loads of BHP but sod all Torque! Unless the figures are wrong as I suspect.

Post 71550 by mraldonnelly on 2006-01-11 23:50:54
i just copied it... I didn't read it.....
It's alright Judge, no ones accusing you. Besides, you were the only one who could be arsed to research so you can't be blamed for a minor typo. What do you reckon torque is? Surely not 750! That's HUGE if it is! That'd rip your face off!

Post 71556 by JUDGENINJA on 2006-01-11 23:59:59

OK here's another one... XJ220 Once holding the distinction as the fastest car in the world, the Jaguar XJ220 was put into limited production in 1992. So limited in fact that only 275 were produced. The XJ220, which cost $400,000, had a top speed of 218 miles per hour, making it the world's fastest production car. This rocket could go from 0 to 60 mph on a paltry 3.8 seconds. The XJ200 carried a 3.5 liter twin turbo V6 engine producing 542 horsepower and 475 foot-pounds of torque. Due to it's staggering power and limited production, you can pick up an XJ200 for a mere $706,000.

it was missing a 4.... 475

Post 71559 by mraldonnelly on 2006-01-12 00:02:26

Nice one Judge. So, it was an investor then probably and he stands to make a tidy profit. I guess he just couldn't resist giving it a bit of a drive though. Regards Andy

I was doing a quick search on hte Guiness world records site and found this... Highest Car Mileage A 1966 Volvo P-1800S owned by Irvin Gordon of East Patchogue, New York, USA, had covered in excess of 3,572,342 km (2,219,751 miles) by March 2004. The car is still driven on a daily basis and covers over 160,000 km (100,000 miles) per year, thanks in part to being driven to numerous car shows and events in Europe and the USA. just in case someone wonders about reliability of a Volvo car...

xj220 when initially displayed was to be made with v12 engine..jag took many orders on this basis, and when it became common knowledge that the twin turbo v6 was to be fitted, had to refund many disgruntled customers deposits..the engine is actually closely related to the unit used in the metro 6r4...not the most exotic, and once famously described as sounding like a washing machine on full spin cycle!!!..have seen one of these amazing motors on the road in forfar of all places...and for those of you that dont know forfar, seeing anything without a massey ferguson badge on it is unusual up there!!
